Connecticut River Transit's new home is located in Rockingham, Vermont, across the street from Sonnax, 2 miles north of Bellows Falls. The 20,000-square-foot facility is set back from the Route 5 frontage. The facility houses offices, a storage area for buses and a maintenance bay, allowing for future expansion and the potential for a Park & Ride.
Our new facility is:
- Geographically located for the most cost efficient transit for The Current's service area
- Logistically designed for the most productive, time efficient operations
- Physically built and equipped for the best sustainability of safe, reliable and comfortable buses
- Aesthetically laid out for optimum safety of all employees
- Thoughtfully constructed for phase II expansion capability for a Park and Ride, Passenger Waiting Room and expanded fleet
- Designed and constructed in parallel with LEED criteria to promote an environmentally friendly facility and site installation
On July 31 come and help us to celebrate Connecticut River Transit’s new branding as “The Current”, and The Current’s new bus maintenance and administrative offices facility!
Success takes more than chemistry; it takes strong cooperation and a great sense of teamwork. Synergy works and completing this facility project is possible only because of all the load sharing, time and energy that the individuals, agencies and boards recognized contributed to this 3 year effort. A HUGE, WARM THANK YOU for all your willingness, shared goals and vision, and teamwork!!
We wish to express our gratitude to the Windham County and Southern Windsor County communities and especially our co-owners, the Town of Rockingham, for making this idea a plan, and making this plan happen!!
The most important component of a transit operation is where you start. We always had great ideas for a safe and efficient operation. We did not have a way to implement them in the rented facility not designed for public transit.
